Description
Installed in the courtyard of the Mies van der Rohe building at Indiana University-known for its clean lines and geometric forms-this installation introduced sharp, angular elements that suggested movement. One of its defining features was how its appearance changed depending on the viewer's perspective. From above, it appeared as a perfect square, but from the ground, it transformed into a series of dramatic diagonals.
This project was the result of c481, a course which guides students through the full design-to-fabrication process, taking ideas from rough sketches or abstract concepts to a completed installation. With a focus on collaboration, students work together to shape the project's direction, making key decisions as a group.
Through iterative design, prototyping, and hands-on fabrication, they engage with materials and technical challenges, refining their work in response to real-world constraints. Materials: 2x4s, 3D printed parts, LEDs.
Design by Student Victoria Taperova.
